I am getting ready to purchase either an 11 foot board or a twelve foot board but am worried about transporting it on a roof rack on my subaru because the board will be almost as long as the car.  Even if it's secure, won't it snap in the wind at freeway speeds?  The distance between the roof racks is only about four feet.  That means lots of the board to stick out at either end.

I  see your problem, I transported my Starboard 8'5'' the other day on my Toyota and it was about 40 cm between the racks, needles to say, the drive to the beach was very slow.

I'd turn it around and face the fins towards the front. Then hang most of the board length over the back of the vehicle. It cuts better through the wind that way. You dont want the board lifting/scooping wind from the front. Good luck. Rowan
