I have already lost one $300+ paddle at an offshore reef and am wondering why they don't make them with some bright colors on them so they are easier to spot in the water when you lose em.

I also lost a carbon paddle + the handle of the paddle before I realized that you have to cut it to length and super glue the Naish paddle - bloody annoying.  Bright orange - in fact, make them fluorescent green or pink or orange  Shocked

I resolved that issue by buying some fluorescent tape (bright orange) and winding it a few times around the handle.  It's like a tennis racket type of grip and as such also helps with the grip of the paddle.

Easiest and cheapest option is to either spray the blade and handle a bright color - or use electrical tape (red, yellow) and wind it around the shaft. I've seen the pros who SUP'ed Puerto Escondido last year for the SUP comp do this - plus a couple of the guys in Hawaii who surf big stuff.
